The World Bank released its latest China Economic Update on July 7, stating that with strong high-tech investment and export support, the Chinese economy remained resilient in early 2026. However, as the property sector continues to adjust due to declining housing demand and consumer spending remains cautious, China's economic growth is expected to slow to 4.4% in 2026. Due to the still gradual progress in rebalancing the economy toward consumption, growth is projected to ease further to 4.3% in 2027 and 4.2% in 2028. From a global perspective, energy supply shocks have weighed on global economic and trade growth, with the Middle East conflict disrupting energy markets and trade routes. Global economic growth is expected to slow from 2.9% in 2025 to 2.5% in 2026. As energy prices decline and uncertainty subsides, global economic growth is expected to recover in 2027-2028.
